About

ABOUT US

Beginning January 2021, K4TGR4M joined forces as a RnB/Soul, HipHop duo.

Combining their influences, they released their first single “Tiny Soldier” in June 2021. In hopes of gaining organic exposure, they started busking a mix of popular songs, all time favorites, and originals on the streets of Whyte avenue and at local markets. This quickly gained them attention, paving their way from busking, to performing onto bigger stages such as the CEBL Championship Weekend, U of A’s Welcome Week, and Calgary’s B!G Pride Festival in the span of a few months. Since then, they've made their mark as the couple who turns heads with their melodic harmonies and unique tone.

They continue to play at weddings, festivals, restaurants, birthdays, and other events, and notably made it to the finals of K-Day's Talent Search in the summer of 2023 and were accepted to compete against some of Western Canada's greatest bands in BandMania at the semi-finals held at Blues on Whyte in February, 2024. K4TGR4M looks forward to growing even more and seeing where their career in music will take them.

K4T

K4T’s love for music began in the dance studio. Enrolled in ballet at the age of 3, then later into jazz, hiphop, contemporary and modern, she gained a love for the performing arts which would later shape her artistry as an adult. Venturing into other ways to experiment with music, she started writing songs in elementary school, and began playing piano and guitar as a way to express herself through both word and sound.

In 10th grade, she began recording and learning basic music production in Garageband, continuing to post covers and originals on social media. Taking inspiration from artists like Blossom Dearie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Amy Winehouse, she developed her sound as “vintage with a modern twist”.

In the Summer of 2016, K4T enrolled in a beginners music production class at Night Vision Music Academy. With her developing knowledge of Ableton Live 9, she released her first single, “Us Two Just Don’t Belong”, under “Kathryn Johnson”, sampling items in her room such as a candle, cup of pop, and a pen. Along with building her online presence, she began performing at local cafes, building a stronger network within the community.

Upon graduating from her BARST degree in 2021, she began her path towards reinventing herself, changing her artist name from “Kathryn Johnson” to ”K4T”. Since then, she has been writing and featuring on other artists tracks internationally with consistent 5 Star Reviews on Fiverr, combined forces with Gr4m as K4TGR4M with their shared vision, and had the privilege of collaborating with JUNO award winning Glenn Morrison on their tracks "Fallin", and One Health Partners (OHP) song "Better Together".  As she sets down her roots as a K4T, she is excited to see where the rest of this journey will take her.

GR4M

GR4M is a Filipino-Canadian singer-songwriter and rapper currently based in Edmonton, Alberta. Drawing early inspiration from American Rock, Reggae, and the Filipino band “Bamboo”, Gr4m quickly became immersed in a variety of genres and musical styles. After learning guitar, bass, and drums with his brothers, he began writing his own songs at 14 years old.

GR4M’s music career gained traction while attending high school. He began performing at local showcases, weddings, and fundraisers. These performances spawned bigger opportunities, leading to performances alongside established Filipino artists at the Showtime showcase at Edmonton’s Shaw Conference Centre. Following this, Gr4m would continue to showcase his talents performing at fundraising events hosted by the Stollery Children’s Hospital. In 2017 GR4M wrote and released a 5 track self-titled EP that focused on his growth and self-discovery as a human being and artist. The songs ranged from sentimental ballads about understanding his own perspective on life, to optimistic and rhythmic narratives about his future.

In 2018 GR4M began self-producing and recording his music as a way to keep his artistic vision personal and true to himself. His current sound and songwriting focuses on blending his melodic and rhythmic abilities as a vocalist and rapper. It conveys stories about his personal struggles as well as uplifting messages in hopes that his audience can relate and grow alongside him.

With his current releases, Gr4m plans to make an impact and change to this world.
